Record Setting Rams Win at OCU!

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK:  The 11th ranked Texas Wesleyan University women's golf team continued to set records as the Lady Rams romped to their second win in three tournaments this season.  Alex Schies took the individual title at -3 to lead the Rams to the win at 7th ranked Oklahoma City University's Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at Lincoln Park.

"I'm so proud of these girls top to bottom," Head Coach Kevin Millikan said after the tournament, "and not just this week but for what they've done so far this season.  They have worked extremely hard to get to where they are and winning two of three so far this fall is a great accomplishment.  They handled the pressure of being in the lead against quality competition really well.  They have a feeling that they can do this and they belong when they show up to the tournament and that's pretty fun to watch."

During the tournament the Rams set school records for single round score (285), 36-hole score (583), and 54-hole score (887).  The team has also notched multiple wins for the first time in the program's six seasons.

Individually, Trudy Allen was just off the school record with a second-round card of 69.  Alex Schies broke her own school records for 36-hole scoring (140) and 54-hole scoring (213).

After closing Monday's action with the school record 285, the Rams pulled away from the field on Tuesday, eventually winning at +23 (887), 15 shots better than McLennan College.  Meanwhile, 7th ranked Oklahoma City fell off to +42 (906) for the tournament to place third.

In three rounds of play, the Lady Rams' scoring five turned in only one card of 80, and all five finished in the top-15.

Schies entered the final round, two shots off the lead, but shot +1 (73) on Tuesday to earn the 5th win of her career.  Over 54-holes, she carved the par-72, 6,010 yard course in 213 shots (3-under par) to lead all 52 individuals.

Trudy Allen (221) and Emily Hunt (223) finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Jacinda Chan and Elena Sinde Romero tied for 14th at 232.  Jaci Trotter played as an individual and tied for 20th at 237.

The Rams will return to action February 18-19, at the University of Houston-Victoria's Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate at Colony Creek.
