DALLAS, TX: Four members of the Texas Wesleyan University women's track and field team took part in the BMW Dallas Half Marathon on Sunday.
On a cold and windy morning in North Texas,
Melissa Gonzalez posted an NAIA national qualifying time of 1:28:42 to finish 19th amongst over 3,000 female participants. Gonzalez was fourth in the 20-24 year-old division, while her time was just two seconds off of the school record time she turned in at last year's SAGU Half in Waxahachie, TX.
Ray Vidales and
Maria Guillen finished fifth and sixth in the 0-19 age division. Vidales ran 1:40:05 to finish 69th overall and Guillen was 35 seconds behind in 74th overall.
Jaclyn Ramos ran 1:52:19 to place 26th in the 0-19 division and 282nd overall.
Twenty-eight year old Brook Slayman of Fort Worth was the top female finisher with a time of 1:19:17.
An NAIA A Qualifying time in the half marathon is 1:30:00.00. Gonzalez will make her second appearance in the National Championship meet. She placed 37th in the marathon last year with a time of 4:04:58.90.
