FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan Athletic Director
Steve Trachier announced today the hiring of
Priscilla Morgan as Head Volleyball Coach.
Morgan becomes the seventh head coach in program history, dating back to its inaugural season in 1978.
"I am very excited about Coach Morgan becoming a part of our team," Trachier said. "She has a wealth of coaching experience and has demonstrated the ability to improve programs. We have a great squad returning next year, and I am certain the team will challenge for a conference championship under her direction."
Morgan comes to Texas Wesleyan from the University of the Southwest. In just two seasons, she took the Mustangs from a 10-win season to the best record in program history at 24-9 last season. Under her guidance in 2016, USW advanced to the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) championship match while featuring eight all-conference selections. Overall, she holds a record of 34-29 as a collegiate head coach.
At USW Morgan also served as Student-Athlete Academic Support Liaison and guided the entire department to a 3.2 cumulative GPA, which won the RRAC GPA Championship in 2015-16.
"I'm really excited about taking the reins of the Rams volleyball program," Morgan commented. "I'm very thankful to
Steve Trachier for giving me this opportunity. My goal is to continue the program's success and build that into a Sooner Athletic Conference Championship and a national ranking. My husband, Ryan, and I are excited about making this move and making Fort Worth our home."
Morgan has had previous collegiate coaching experience as an assistant at Missouri Southern State University, the University of Tulsa, and Southeastern Louisiana University. In her one season at Missouri Southern, the Lions doubled their win total from the previous season and equaled the program's win total from the previous three seasons. At Tulsa, she served as Director of Volleyball Operations, overseeing team travel, game day operations, and running the Golden Hurricanes annual tournament. Morgan spent three and a half years as an assistant at Southeastern Louisiana, serving as the program's recruiting coordinator and assisting with day-to-day operations.
Morgan played four seasons at Belhaven University (Jackson, MS) where she was a two-year captain and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She helped the Blazers to the 2006 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship. During her junior year she served four months as Interim Head Coach and later graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration and a minor in Sports Ministry.
The Lady Rams are coming off an outstanding season, finishing with a record of 28-5 and reaching the Sooner Athletic Conference semifinals after posting a 14-4 mark in conference play. Their 28 wins were the program's most since 2005. The team is set to return five of its seven all-conference players, including
Shelby Stinnett who earned All-American accolades in her junior season.
