Steve Trachier

Steve Trachier is entering his fourth season (2020-21) as head women's basketball coach at Texas Wesleyan. Trachier also serves as Associate Athletic Director For Athletics after having served the department as Athletic Director for seven seasons (2011-2018).

Last season (2019-20), his Rams improved their win total by another three games over the previous year while their 12-8 record in Sooner Athletic Conference play was the program's best since joining the league in the 2013-14 season. The Rams started hot, going 7-2 (2-0 SAC) in the fall semester. They took care of business at home with a 9-3 mark within the friendly confines of the Sid Richardson Center. The team finished the regular season tied for fourth in the SAC standings but claimed the fifth seed in a tiebreaker situation with Mid-America Christian and fell to the Evangels 80-75 in the SAC Quarterfinals.

Three Rams were named All-Conference in Nicole Gleason, Destiney Winkfield and Evie Whorely. In addition, nine Lady Rams were named Academic All-SAC and seven were named SAC Scholar-Athlete. Gleason, a senior from Heath, Texas added to her distinguished career with a second All-American award, becoming just the second Lady Ram to earn that distinction multiple times. She set the program record for career three-pointers made at 264 and finished her career eighth on Texas Wesleyan's all-time scoring list with 1,197 points. She also holds the single game records for three's made (7) as well as three-point percentage (6-for-6).

In three seasons, Trachier has produced a two-time NAIA All-American and seven all-conference selections.

In his seven years as Athletic Director, Trachier built a tremendous record particularly in his focus on the academic success of Texas Wesleyan's student-athletes.  Under his guidance, the Rams produced 100 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.  That was 55% of the school's 182 total Scholar-Atheltes at the time.  In 2014-15, the Rams notched a school record 26 Scholar-Athletes, and in 2015-16, the department totaled a school record 10 NAIA Scholar-Teams.  In addition, the department saw 51 All-American selections and 198 All-Conference athletes in his tenure as Athletic Director.

In his third year as Athletic Director (2013-14), Trachier successfully guided the department through a move into the NAIA's most competitive conference, the Sooner Athletic Conference. He later spearheaded the return of Texas Wesleyan Football which took the field in 2017 after a 75-year hiatus.
 
Trachier came to Texas Wesleyan after serving many years in public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator.  Prior to his arrival, Trachier served the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District as the Executive Director for Secondary Administration.  In that capacity he had oversight of all secondary and alternative campuses and administrators as well as athletics and activities.  He was also the District’s Title IX Compliance Officer and Level II Hearing Officer.
 
Trachier was a teacher and athletic coach in Cooper ISD and Deer Park ISD before moving to the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.  He has prior collegiate experience as an instructor of health and physical education at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce).
 
Trachier earned a Bachelor of Science in History and Physical Education from East Texas State University and a Master of Science in Health Education from the same institution.  He continued his education there, obtaining his Mid-Management Administrative Certification.
 
Trachier and his wife, Machele, reside in Colleyville.

2019-20: 17-11, 12-8 SAC

2018-19: 14-17, 11-10 SAC
In his second season, Trachier's Lady Rams improved by five games over the previous year and posted a winning record, 11-10 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. Nicole Gleason was named an Honorable Mention NAIA All-Amcerican. Gleason (a 2nd-team pick) along with Lexi Burns and Evie Whorely (honorable mention) were named All-SAC. In addition, Burns was honored as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

2017-18: 9-19, 6-14 SAC
Trachier's first victory as head coach came on Nov. 10 when the Lady Rams topped St. Thomas 76-57 at the SAGU Classic. On Jan. 11, the Rams took a dominant 69-49 win over No. 19 John Brown University at the Sid Richardson Center, sparking a season-long four-game winning streak. Nicole Gleason was named Honorable Mention All-SAC while Gleason, Alycia Louallen and Tomi Sanchez were all named Academic All-SAC.
