Box Score

BROWNSVILLE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (13-6) was eliminated in Red River Athletic Conference semifinal action after suffering a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Northwood University (14-3-1) on Friday.

All three Lady Knight goals came in the first half of play. Audrey Gatlin headed in a free kick from Sian Webster 10:26 into the game. Ten minutes later Webster headed in a corner kick from Natalie Carter. At 25:38, Carter took another corner kick, and Webster assisted Gatlin with Northwood’s third goal of the day.

The Lady Ram defense settled down to blank Northwood from that point, but Texas Wesleyan could not find the net.

“We are disappointed with the loss and not obtaining our main goal of winning a conference championship,” head coach Josh Gibbs said, “but we had a great year overall. I was honored by the play of our six seniors all year long. We are going to miss them immensely.”

The loss ends Texas Wesleyan’s season at 13-6 overall. The Rams went 6-3 in conference play. The Rams posted seven shutouts while notching school records with just 20 goals allowed and a goals against average of 1.05. For the season, the Rams outscored their opponents 58-20.
