Blake Named RRAC Player of the Week

FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Jonathan Blake has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of January 24-30.
 
Blake, a senior guard, from Houston, TX, shot 68.8% from the field and grabbed 27 rebounds in a 3-0 week for the sixth ranked Rams. He turned in 29 points and 13 boards in a 75-65 win over Texas College and then notched 14 points in a 78-69 victory at University of the Southwest (NM). On Saturday, Blake added a second double-double outing with 19 points and 10 rebounds to defeat Paul Quinn College (TX), 85-58. TWU stayed atop the conference standings at 12-1 with a 19-2 overall record.
 
Blake shared the award with Ronald Horne of Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Horne averaged 32.3 points per game in a 2-1 week and had scoring performances of 40 and 39 points. He also approached a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in a win over USW.
 
Blake and Horne will meet tonight as TWU travels to Waxahachie, TX, to take on SAGU. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in SAGU’s Full Life Center. The game will be broadcast by SAGU TV and picked up by Victory Sports Network. The broadcast can be viewed free of charge at http://www.sagu.tv/ or http://www.livestream.com/victorysports.
