SHREVEPORT, LA: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (6-4-2, 3-1-1 RRAC) suffered its first conference after LSU-Shreveport (4-7, 3-3) scored a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes to secure a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
The Pilots got on the board with a goal from Nelson Zelaya in the 24th minute. That proved to be the only goal of the first half.
In the 61st minute,
Ivan Kovacevic knocked in his tenth goal of the season, pulling into a tie for the conference lead. Ten minutes later, LSUS regained the elad with a goal from Joey Morvant. Any thought of a Texas Wesleyan comeback was put away in the 89th minute, when a goal from Joseph Eades pushed the score to 3-1.
For the game, the Pilots led 17-7 in shots (5-5 on goal) and 5-3 in corner kicks. The Rams were whistled for 17 fouls, while the Pilots were called for 12.
Dejan Milosevic made two saves in the loss, while Lance Quini made four stops for LSUS.
The Rams will return to action on Thursday, October 13, when they travel to Marshall, TX, to take on Wiley College. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
