FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Brian Wanamaker has been named Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of February 7-13. Wanamaker shared the award with LSU-Shreveport’s Brance Davenport. Wanamaker’s sixth ranked Rams will host Davenport’s third ranked Pilots tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.

Texas Wesleyan enters tonight’s contest with an overall record of 22-2 and a conference mark of 15-1. LSU-Shreveport stands at 23-1 overall and 16-1 in the RRAC. The winner of tonight’s contest will have a decided advantage in the race for the RRAC regular season championship. Texas Wesleyan is seeking that title for a fourth consecutive season. LSUS, a newcomer to the conference, had won six consecutive Gulf Coast Conference Championships before joining the RRAC this season.

Wanamaker, a senior guard from Philadelphia, PA, had a record-setting week as the Rams went 2-0. He set new school marks for free throws made (20) and attempted (22) in a game while scoring a career-high 34 points en route to a 91-89 win at Our Lady of the Lake University (TX). He followed with 25 points, including 16 more free throws in an 89-78 triumph over Wiley College (TX). For the week, Wanamaker connected on 36-of-41 free throw attempts (87.8%) and 11-of-16 shots from the field (68.8%).
