SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (19-4, 11-4 RRAC) suffered a 70-64 loss at Our Lady of the Lake University (15-7, 11-5) in Red River Athletic Conference Action on Monday.

Eliana Mijangos capped a 12-2 run. The Saints later used an 8-1 run to take the largest lead of the half at 29-22. Texas Wesleyan then scored nine of the final 11 points of the half to knot the score at 31 heading into the intermission.
After not attempting a free throw in the first half, OLLU got to the line with frequency in the second half. Midway through the period, the Rams led 47-44, but OLLU’s Stacey Darnley turned the game in the Saints favor when she capped a 7-0 run with a four-point play.
OLLU pushed ahead by as many as eight points, 61-53, before
Tiffany Adair gave the Rams some life. After Texas Wesleyan had gone nearly five minutes without a field goal, Adair netted three straight jump shots as the Rams cut the score to 63-59 entering the final two minutes. The Saints were able to hit their free throws in the final minutes to hold on for the 70-64 win.
The Rams shot a solid 75% (18-24) at the free throw line including 12-of-17 in the second half. OLLU hit at an 82.6% clip (19-23) at the line, all in the second half.
OLLU was led by Darnley’s 18 point effort. Krystal Manning added 13 points to the win.
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they host Wiley College. That game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
