FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (3-1-1) played to a draw against the Oklahoma City University Stars (0-2-2) at Martin Field on Tuesday night.
The Rams set a fast and furious tempo early, and the Stars kept up as the two teams battled fairly evenly throughout the first 45.
The two squads played to a nil-nil tie until 39 minutes in when a foul in the box led to a penalty kick. Ivan Kovacevic took the PK and made it count, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead.
Despite Oklahoma City’s efforts Texas Wesleyan went to halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Rams held the lead until midway through the second half when a sketchy handball in the box call led to an Oklahoma City penalty kick. Adam Black put the PK in the back of the net for the equalizer.
The teams played to the end of regulation in a 1-1 tie, although Texas Wesleyan had three extremely close shots that nearly found the back of the net all taken by Liren Halle. Halle put two missiles on target that hit the cross bar and bounced just in front of the goal line.
Wesleyan had their best chance of the two overtime periods off of a Kovacevic lay in that gave Halle a chance on goal. The shot from the right wing blazed past the keeper Joe Shulberg but hit the post, and that was the closest either team came to scoring in overtime.
Wesleyan edged the Stars on shots 23-19, corners were even at four each, and fouls were somewhat lop-sided with Rams getting called for 23 to the Stars 15.
