HOUSTON, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (7-10) fell to 1-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play after a 3-1 loss at the University of St. Thomas Houston (10-5, 2-0 RRAC) on Friday.
 
The Lady Rams had defeated the Celts in a thrilling five-set match two weeks earlier on their home floor.  On Friday, Texas Wesleyan got off to a slow start, digging a 2-0 hole with scores of 25-19 and 25-14.
 
The Lady Rams got going in game three, taking a 25-23 win, but the Celts outlasted the Rams for a 28-26 clinching win in game four.
 
“We just weren’t ready to play from the beginning, and we cannot afford to let that happen,” commented head coach Christy Clawson. “When we finally got started it was too late.”
 
With the loss, Texas Wesleyan joins a pack of five teams with one loss in the RRAC standings.  St. Thomas and UT-Brownsville are the only undefeated teams at 2-0 in league play.
 
The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Austin, TX, to take on Huston-Tillotson University.  That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
