FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (2-1) picked up a 9-1 victory over Dallas Christian (0-4) at Martin Field on Tuesday Night.
The Rams had a dominating first half outshooting the Crusaders 21-4, leading to four goals. Ivan Kovacevic put the first goal in at the 10:32 mark giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead. Liren Halle and Thiago Borges both tallied an assist on the goal. Texas Wesleyan continued to pour it on with a TJ Romaguera goal and Kovacevic assist in the 23rd minute, and two more Kovacevic goals in the 28th minute (assist to Halle) and in the 36th minute.
Fouls in the first half were even with seven apiece. Wesleyan took the edge on corners 3-2.
Kovacevic had a monster first half that included five shots all on goal, three of them goals, and one assist.
The Rams picked up where they left off with an early second half goal by Kovacevic from Romaguera in the 47th minute.
Romaguera put in his second of the night behind an Adam Pierce touch in the 56th minute to push the Rams lead to 6-0.
Dallas Christian got one back in the 63rd minute with a Gerson Machado goal from Chiva Rangel.
Drayenko Marin scored in the 71st minute, James Smith scored in the 81st minute, and Ricardo Aguilera scored in the final minute to end the lop-sided affair 9-1.
Dejan Milosevic (2-1) got the win with two saves. Kovacevic finished with four goals and an assist, Romaguera had two goals and an assist, and Halle tallied two assists in the win.
Wesleyan outshot the Crusaders 37-9, with 19 shots on goal for the Rams. Dallas Christian out fouled the Rams 18-16, and Texas Wesleyan was caught offside 17 times.
The Rams take on Central Christian College on Saturday, September 10. Game time is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
