Lady Rams Blitz Warriors

MUSKOGEE, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (11-3, 6-2 RRAC) needed just under seven minutes to build a 20-point lead on their way to an 86-55 win at Bacone College (5-8, 2-7) on Thursday.
 
The Lady Rams did not allow a basket for nearly four minutes and raced out to a commanding 22-2 advantage with 13:28 on the clock.  Texas Wesleyan’s lead swelled to as many as 27 (41-14) as the Rams outshot the Warriors 59%-30% from the field in the first half.  Nicole Terral and Octavia Mullins both chipped in ten points in the first period, while Kristi Alexander notched six points and five assists to send the Rams to the locker room in control at 50-27.
 
The second half brought the same results.  Bacone cut the margin to 14 points at 52-38, but the Rams used a 10-1 run to stretch their advantage back to 23 at 62-39.  The lead continued to swell and Texas Wesleyan won going away 86-55.
 
For the game, the Rams outshot the Warriors 50%-38% from the field and 37%-22% from long range.  Texas Wesleyan scored inside, notching a 48-32 advantage in the paint and a 27-8 edge in points off of turnovers.
 
Mullins led the Rams with 18 points and 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.  Alexander finished with 14 points.  Terral posted 13 points, and Emma Fradette knocked down three three-pointers in an 11-point effort.
 
The Warriors were led by Danielle Jackson’s 11 points, while Myriah Hadnot finished with 10.
 
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they host Huston-Tillotson University.  That game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
