FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (15-4, 10-3 RRAC) suffered another overtime loss to the Lady Pilot of LSU-Shreveport (15-5, 13-1 RRAC), stopping the 23 consecutive home win streak in the process with a 56-46 loss at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.

Both teams played as if they were not trying to make a big mistake throughout the first half, and in turn each team made their fair share of absent minded miscues. The Lady Rams controlled the tempo early, jumping out to a 8-2 advantage led by three buckets from Kristi Alexander.

A Raven Alexander trey gave the Lady Rams an 18-7 lead with eight minutes remaining. Shreveport quickly cut the lead to 18-15, but the Wesleyan finished the half with a 28-20 lead.

Texas Wesleyan continued to control the game to start the second half, jumping out to a 14 point, 38-24 lead, and the largest of the game.

The Lady Pilots would not go away without a fight, going on a 12-0 run, spanning six minutes, and taking a 44-42 lead with a Christy Willis three.

Alexander tied the game with a mid-range jump shot, and the Lady Pilots came right back to take a 46-44 lead with under a minute left in regulation.

Brittany White found a wide open Raven Smith who tied the game at 46, sending the game into overtime.

Texas Wesleyan had major woes in the overtime period, going 0-11 from the field and 0-5 from behind the arc, finally conceding to the Lady Pilots 56-46.

LSU-Shreveport shot 32 percent from the field in the game, while Wesleyan shot 31 percent. Shreveport shot 33 percent from the three point line, and the Lady Rams shot only 25 percent from downtown. Texas Wesleyan only went to the line twice, going 2-4, while the Lady Pilots went 8-14 for 57 percent.

The Rams edged LSU-S on the boards 49-47. Wesleyan turned the ball over 26 times contributing to 20 Lady Pilot points.

Alexander led the Lady Rams with 14 points and seven rebounds. Nicole Terral finished with 10 points, Brittany White had six points and eight boards, and Octavia Mullins tallied 11 rebounds.

The Lady Rams look to bounce back when they take on Wiley College on Monday, January, 30 starting a 5:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.
