Fort Worth, Texas- Texas Wesleyan fell to future Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Wayland Baptist University Thursday night as Wayland Baptist defeated the Lady Rams, 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 27-25, 25-20), at the Sid Richardson Center. Next year Texas Wesleyan will join Wayland Baptist in the Sooner Athletic Conference when the two will face off as conference foes.

After dropping the first set of the night, the Lady Rams rallied to take the second set but could not overcome errors as the squad let a tight third set slip away and eventually the fourth. Texas Wesleyan committed a team total of 34 errors while Wayland Baptist committed 13.

“We had opportunities to control the match and let them slip away,” said head coach Christy Clawson.

The Lady Rams fought hard and Clawson is confident her squad will get the pieces together.

“It seems we always have pieces missing when we play good teams,” said Clawson. “Offensively we did well. We are better now then we were last month. We still need to maintain consistent play and stay relaxed in pressure situations. I am confident that it will all come together when we need it to.”

Katie Rosenbusch led the way in kills for the Lady Rams with 18 while Alex Hendee contributed big with 15 kills and 18 digs. Meghan Finley pitched in 13 kills along with 7 digs.

Angelica Arroyo had a huge assist night with 56 and 12 digs.

Texas Wesleyan fell to an overall 16-9 record while Wayland Baptist improved on the season to 11-12.

The Lady Rams will take on The University of St. Thomas Friday, October 11th at the Sid Richardson Center with the match set to start at 7:00 p.m.
