Brownsville, Texas- The Texas Wesleyan volleyball team charged into Garza Gym in Brownsville over the weekend to take on the University of Texas at Brownsville on Saturday, October 20, in hopes to overcome a three game losing skid. The Lady Rams were unable to prevail as they dropped the game in three consecutive sets (25-18, 25-11, 25-14) to fall to 5-2 in conference and 16-12 overall on the season.
It was the fourth time this season the Lady Rams were shut out without winning a single set during a match. Texas Wesleyan was unable to overcome the pressure UTB and TSC were dishing out.
UTB and TSC were celebrating Senior Day as the squad improved to a perfect 9-0 conference record on the season and also powered through for the program's 20th consecutive win of the season.
Lady Rams lone senior Angelica Arroyo contributed in the match with 15 assists and 6 digs while Stephanie Dominguez had 10 digs.
Katherine Rosenbusch had 7 kills along with 2 aces and 4 blocks. Lynsay Buell had a solid match with 6 kills, 6 digs, and 2 blocks.
Lauren Hutchinson pitched in with 8 digs and 2 aces.
The Lady Rams will play their final two games of the season at home. Texas Wesleyan will host Texas College on Friday, November 2 with the match slated to start at 7:00 p.m. and with the season concluding the following day Saturday, November 3 against Wiley College at 1:00 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Center.
