FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (4-5-2, 1-2-1 RRAC) played rival Northwood (7-3-1, 3-0-1 RRAC) to a 1-1 draw at Martin Field on Thursday.

Shrareh Asadi found the pay dirt in the 12th minute after a persistent run paid off for an early 1-0 Lady Ram lead.
The Lady Knights leveled the score with a Rocio Gutierrez header that found the back of the net.
The teams struggled for possession the last twenty minutes, taking the tie to half time.
The Lady Rams and Lady Knights took it to each other in the second half, both teams playing with considerably more aggression than the first half.
The Lady Knights picked up a red in the second half, giving Wesleyan an advantage. It showed as the Lady Rams spent the last six minutes in Northwood territory, but could not find the net.
The next two overtime period were twenty minutes of nerve-wracking, nail biting, on the edge of your seat action as the Lady Rams dominated Northwood, fighting, clawing, and scratching for a goal.
Texas Wesleyan nearly pounded down the door with opportunities, taking seven shots on goal, five of them in the overtime period.
The Lady Rams best chance was not a chance at all. Zamora Bell found the ball thirty yards out and beat her defender for a one on one with the goal keeper. Bell was talked from behind just outside the box that resulted in an automatic red card. It gets worse. The center referee failed to see Lauren Kee with the advantage going towards goal and stopped the play.
Northwood narrowly escaped Martin Field with a 1-1 draw.
“Our team was the better team today.” commented head coach Josh Gibbs. “We took the draw, but our effort was through the roof. It didn’t happen today, but it wasn’t for lack of effort.”
The Lady Rams will play LSU-Shreveport on Saturday, October 6. That game set for a 7:30 p.m. start at Martin Field.
