Rams Roll Past Southwest

HOBBS, New Mexico-- After suffering their second loss of the season, the Texas Wesleyan men’s basketball team rebounded on the road with a win in Hobbs, New Mexico on Thursday night against the University of the Southwest. Oscar Griffin led all scorers in the game with 21 points. Griffin is second in the RRAC in scoring and also had 5 rebounds and 2 steals in the win.
 
Despite 24 turnovers in the game compared to just 15 turnovers made by the Mustangs, the Rams were able to hold Southwest to shooting below 30 percent in field goal percentage and now improve to 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in the RRAC.
 
The Rams went on a 14-0 run in the first half to be up ahead of the Mustangs 24-13 with 6:44 remaining before halftime.
 
Darius Daniels hit his first three-pointer of the season on an assist by Mo Weather to push the Rams ahead by fourteen with the score at 32-18 at the 3:27 mark in the first half. The Mustangs were unable to cut into the deficit before halftime and Texas Wesleyan went inside the locker room with a 39-20 lead.
 
The Rams led by double-digits the entire second half. Texas Wesleyan held their largest lead in the second half up by 28 points at 77-49 with 3:37 remaining in the game before ultimately capturing the conference win on the road.
 
Mo Weathers led the game in assists with 4, while Teance Walton pulled down 10 rebounds to lead in rebounding for the Rams.
 
The Rams will next play the University of St. Thomas at home in the Burge Alumni Classic at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday, December 15th. Tip-off is set at 4:00 p.m.
