Lady Rams Rough Up Jarvis Christian

HAWKINS, TX: The Texas Welseyan Univeristy women's basketball team (6-2, 2-1 RRAC) picked up a 62-47 conference road win over Jarvis Christian College (1-5, 1-3 RRAC) on Saturday.

The Lady Rams played tremendous defense all night capping the Lady Bulldogs at only 33 percent from the field for the night, while shooting 48 percent. Texas Wesleyan also out rebounded the scrappy veteran Jarvis team 45-28.

Both of the squads had an off night from behind the arc shooting under 15 percent.

Jarvis Christian led by as many as five early in the second half behind a stealthy performance by Dilinsizwe Love, who led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. Ivory Russell picked up a double double for Jarvis with 12 points and 10 boards.

The Lady Rams pulled away and finished with a 12 point lead, their largest of the night.

Head Coach Bill Franey cites solid team defense for the win, "Outstanding team defense allowed the team to break open a close game against a veteran Jarvis team. This was definitely a team win."

J'Tierra Brown went 7 for 10 from the floor, leading all players with a season high 18 points. Kayla McCray was lights out cleaning the glass with a carreer high 17 rebounds. TK Larry posted 16 points, six boards, and four steals in the effort. Carneisha Sims went 6 for 10 for 14 points. Toeisha Cooper had 11 rebounds and six points in the win.

The Lady Rams will take on Texas College in Tyler, TX on Monday, December 10. That game set for a 5:30 PM start.
