Lady Rams Notch Third Shutout

Box Score

Plainview, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (3-0-1) recorded their third consecutive shutout with a 1-0 win over Wayland Baptist University (3-2) on Thursday night.

The Lady Rams played their third game in four days Thursday night against the Lady Pioneers, who were looking for revenge as Wesleyan took the match in last year’s contest.

The two evenly matched teams grinded it out until Zamora Bell gave Wesleyan a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.

This was all the momentum the Lady Rams would need to grind the rest of the night out and take their third consecutive shutout win, 1-0 over Wayland.

The Rams got 14 shots off, four on goal, while the Lady Pioneers had 17 shots, five on goal.

“It was our third game in four days and it showed”, noted head coach Josh Gibbs, “I am really proud of our players for grinding it out and earning the win. We were obviously tired, but they fought it out against one of the best Wayland teams I have seen. The backline was solid tonight.”

The Lady Rams will travel to Lubbock to play a match against Lubbock Christian University on Saturday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m.
