FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (13-7, 9-5 RRAC) got back on track with a 73-60 win against Jarvis Christian College (3-14, 3-11 RRAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.
 
The Lady Bulldogs stuck with the Lady Rams for most of the first half, as the two teams battled for the lead. The Lady Rams went on a run after Jarvis Christian took a 13-11 lead midway through the half. Texas Wesleyan tied the game 13-13 with a Courtney Turner layup. Wesleyan capped the 13-0 run with a ToiEasha Cooper lay-in that found the Lady Rams with a 24-13 lead.
 
The Lady Bulldogs got a few back before the halftime buzzer, heading into the break with a 34-29 deficit.
 
Wesleyan sprinted out to a 12-0 run to start the second half, capped by a Kayla McCray layup to extend the lead to 46-29.
 
Takoia Larry gave the Lady Rams their biggest lead of the night with a mid-range jumper to give Wesleyan a 53-32 with 12:30 remaining in the contest.
 
The Lady Bulldogs would not go down easily, as they cut the lead down to eight with an Ivory Russell bucket to make it 62-54. That would be the closest Jarvis Christian would get though, as Wesleyan picked up the 73-60 win.
 
The Lady Rams defense forced Jarvis into bad shots, resulting in a 26 percent shooting percentage from the field. On the other side, the Lady Rams shot a stellar 49.2 percent from the field.
 
Larry led the Rams with 18 points, adding seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. McCray tallied 15 points and eight boards. Cooper grabbed a double double with 12 points and 14 rebounds in the win.
 
The Lady Rams will take on Texas College (4-15, 3-10 RRAC) on Monday, January 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Center.
