FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (14-7, 10-5 RRAC) ran through Texas College (4-16, 3-11 RRAC) in a 86-54 win at the Sid Richardson Center on Monday.

The Lady Rams went on an 8-0 run capped by a Courtney Turner layup to take a 21-9 lead midway through the first half. Texas Wesleyan kept a good lead the rest of the half and held 37-23 at the break.
 
Wesleyan led by as much as 19 points before the crafty Lady Steers cut the lead to eight at 67-59. The Lady Rams busted out a 6-0 run to get back out to a 75-59 lead with less than five minutes left in regulation. The Lady Steers were overmatched, taking the 86-64 loss.
 
Texas College did not shoot well, only shooting 28 percent from the field, 17 percent from behind the arc, and 52 percent from the free throw line for the game. Texas Wesleyan did a good job of taking high percentage shots, shooting 48 percent from the floor, 14 percent from the three line, and 83 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Kayla McCray led the Rams with 22 points. Takoia Larry posted 19 points in the win. ToiEasha Cooper tallied another double double with 12 points and 12 boards.
 
The Lady Rams will play in Waxahachie, TX against Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday, February 2 at 5:30 PM.
