CHICKASHA, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (9-3-1, 3-3 SAC) took a hard 6-0 loss to the University of Science and Arts (7-4, 4-1 SAC) at Drover Pitch on Saturday.
The Drovers wasted no time getting on the board as Nicolas Alberto gave USAO an early 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. Kyle Maxwell made it 2-0 Drovers in the 13th minute, and almost scored again with a shot off the crossbar in the next minute. Aberto picked up another goal in the 32nd minute, and Jamie North scored from 10 yards out in the 40th minute before taking a comfortable 4-0 lead into half time.
The Rams only got 2 shots off in the first half. Drayenko Marin hit one wide in the 18th minute, and Marin Kovacevic shot one wide in the 34th minute.
The Drovers just didn’t let the Rams into the game in the second half. USAO scored two more goals in the second half, and Wesleyan had no answer, dropping the match 6-0.
USAO out-shot the Rams 27-6, 10-2 on goal. Fouls were fairly even at 14 against the Drovers and 11 against Wesleyan.
The power house that is USAO are somewhat underachieving this season with a deceptive record. The Drovers were ranked 10th in the nation to start this season, took losses to No. 20 Our Lady of the Lake, No. 24 UT-Brownsville, Bethel (TN), and No. 13 Oklahoma Baptist.
The Rams will continue their road tour taking on Wayland Baptist University on Tuesday, October 19 at 3:00 pm.
