Box Score
MARSHALL, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (3-2) got a career-night from Takoia Larry and a double-double from Kashay Barnes to earn a 74-69 win at No. 22 Wiley College (1-1) on Tuesday.

The Lady Rams came out of the gate quickly, scoring the first nine points of the game.  Wiley came back to tie the game at 13, and the game remained tight for the remainder of the half.  The game reached its fifth tie at 32 before the Wildcats took the lead with a free throw.  WC's Kayla Brown closed the half with a steal and a fast break layup to send her team to the locker room up 35-32.

Wiley opened its largest lead of the game at 52-41 midway through the second half.  A three-point play from Larry later sparked an 11-0 run that gave Texas Wesleyan the lead at 56-54.  The game saw two more ties before Larry ripped off eight unanswered points to give the Lady Rams the lead for good, 68-60.  Wiley did not go quietly, twice cutting the deficit to three points, but time ran out on the Wildcats as Texas Wesleyan took an impressive win on the road.

"This win was a real team effort," commented head coach Bill Franey.  "The girls just wouldn't quit.  It took both defense and execution to beat a well-coached ranked team that had a big crowd behind them.  This is a win the girls will savor."

The Rams held the Wildcats to just 33.3% shooting while hitting at a 44.6% clip on their end.  Wiley needed 17 three-point attempts to hit four from beyond the arc.  Texas Wesleyan was a much more efficient 3-of-7 from long range.  The Rams hammered the Wildcats 56-41 on the boards as well.

Larry turned in an incredible line with career highs in scoring, 32, and rebounding, 15, to go with two assists, two blocks, and three steals.  Barnes added 15 points and 11 assists.  Kayla McCray finished with 13 points and eight boards.  Caitlin Boal just missed a double-double as well with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Wiley was led by Danisha Shaw's 23 points.  Kayla Brown added 13 and Ri'Kell Wright scored 10 for the Wildcats.

The Lady Rams will return to action at this weekend's St. Thomas Classic.  They will take on the University of St. Thomas Houston at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and the University of the Incarnate Word at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
