Lady Rams Top Lady Eagles In First SAC Win

BETHANY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (8-10, 1-0 SAC) won their first Sooner Athletic Conference match with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-10, 22-25, 25-15) victory over Southwestern Christian University (3-13, 0-2 SAC) on Thursday.
 
The Lady Rams overmatched the Lady Eagles in the first two sets, as Southwestern Christian posted less than desirable hitting percentages. The Lady Rams, meanwhile, tallied a decent .179 hitting percentage in the first set, while improving considerably in the second, hitting an impressive .360.
 
Head coach Kimberly Weaver was able to empty her bench in the third set to get some of her younger players some conference match experience and the Lady Eagles took advantage to edge out the Wesleyan in the third set 25-22.
 
The Lady Rams got back on track in the fourth set though, to take a resounding ten point, 25-15 win for the 3-1 match win.

Abigail Zipoy, who just came back from an injury, led the Lady Rams with 11 kills, with a .348 hitting percentage, and 10 digs in the match. Katherine Rosenbusch tallied 10 kills, hitting .400 in the process. Stephanie Dominguez had a double-double with 26 assists and 10 digs for the Lady Rams. Lauren Hutchinson posted 20 digs in the win.
 
The Lady Rams come home to play a double header on Saturday, September 21. Texas Wesleyan takes on tenth ranked Oklahoma Baptist (10-3, 1-0 SAC) at 1:00 pm, before playing Wiley College (6-7) at 6:30 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.
