FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (6-1-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday. NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian University (2-2-1) took a 2-1 win at Martin Field.

Both teams had good looks in the first half, but Texas Wesleyan's Arnold Martinez and LCU's Erik Mozzo each made a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless.

Just under three minutes into the second half, LCU's Billy Forbes found the net off an assist from Jorge Martinez. In the 55th minute, David Hagen scored an unassisted goal against his former team to tie the game at 1-1. In the 64th minute, Martinez found Forbes again for the eventual game-winner.

For the game, the Rams outshot the Chaps 17-13 while LCU held a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Both goalkeepers finished with four saves.

The Rams will play their first Sooner Athletic Conference contest on Friday, when they host Northwood University. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
