Â
Hendee led all players with 11 kills.
Lauren Hamaker notched 30 assists. Rosenbusch collected nine kills with a solo block and three block assists.
Â
In the match against Our Lady of the Lake the two rivals didn't disappoint as the two teams battled relentlessly the entire five set match. Our Lady of the Lake took the first set 25-22 letting the Rams play catch up. Despite a Lady Ram effort that included multiple rallies, the last being a 6-1 run spurred by a Rosenbusch kill that brought Wesleyan within one point at 22-21, the Saints were able to hold off the Lady Rams long enough.
Â
In the second set the Rams played solid jumping out to an 18-10 capped by a Finley throw down. The Saints were only able to score four more points from there as four consecutive Saint errors gave the Rams the easy second set win, 25-14.
Â
The third set was a back and forth battle early, but the Lady Rams found some breathing room on a 7-2 run capped by a
Starnisha Bodie kill for a five point, 16-11 lead. Our Lady of the Lake found a spark and charged back to tie the game at 18-18 after two service aces from Sydney Herrera, and out dueled Wesleyan from there to take the 25-21 win.
Â
The Lady Rams started the fourth set determined on a 3-0 run with a kill from Hendee, an ace by
Stephanie Dominguez, and block from Bodie and Finley. The Saints battled back though and the Lady Rams made it hard on themselves with four straight errors, leading to a 6-0 run for Our Lady of the Lake and 19-13 lead. The Lady Rams were not going to give away the game, exploding on a 12-3 run to take the set 25-22.
Â
Texas Wesleyan could not catch a break in the fifth set as their attacks just barely missed lines, and the Saints took advantage getting out to a 10-2 lead. The Rams fought back, but the deficit was too great, dropping the match 3-2 with a 15-8 fifth set that favored the Saints.
