Rams Crush Knights, 8-2

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-0) cruised to an 8-2 win over Southwestern Adventist University at Martin Field on Sunday.

David Hagen started the onslaught when he headed in Denis Ushakov's pass into the box in the 8th minute. Just over a minute later Ivan Kovacevic found his brother Marin Kovacevic for another score. In the 20th minute Ivan played a corner kick into the box for an Alen Pucko goal. Two minutes later Ivan capped his day with an unassisted goal.

Maximillian O'Shea found Dominik Huebl for a goal to bring the score to 5-0 at the half.

The Knights got on the board in the 62nd minute with a questionable goal when Marcelo Costa pushed goalkeeper Eric Cardona into the goal after Cardona had corralled Noe Perez's corner kick.

O'Shea found the net with a header off a free kick from Drayenko Marin in the 69th minute. Abraham Perez then scored in the 74th and 81st minutes, the second off another assist from O'Shea. SWAU's Perez capped the scoring with an unassisted tally with 32 seconds to play.

In total, 26 Rams saw action in the game. Seven players scored goals, while five had assists. Pucko, Huebl, and Perez all scored their first collegiate goals in the contest.

Arturo Sanchez (1-0) made one save and did not allow a goal in the just over 60 minutes in the net for Texas Wesleyan. SWAU's Pedro Cantu made 12 saves in the loss.

The Rams outshot the Knights 37-9 including 20-5 in shots on goal. The Rams also held a 16-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

The Rams will return to action on Wednesday, September 11, as they host Hometown Heroes Night at Martin Field. The Rams will take on the University of St. Thomas-Houston at 6:00 p.m.
