Fifth Ranked Bison Best Lady Rams

SHAWNEE, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (9-9, 5-5 SAC) suffered a 69-57 loss in Sooner Athletic Conference play at fifth ranked Oklahoma Baptist University (17-2, 9-0 SAC) on Monday.
 
Both teams shot an even 42% from the field in the first half.  Consecutive buckets from ToiEasha Cooper and Amy Moody gave the Rams a 24-22 advantage with five minutes to play in the period.  The Bison then ripped off 13 unanswered points on their way to a 35-27 advantage at the intermission.
 
In the second half, the Rams held the Bison to just 35.5% shooting while dialing in a 40.9% clip offensively.  The Rams used a 9-0 run to make it a one-point, 44-43, game midway through the period, but the Bison responded with a run of their own.  Over the next six minutes, OBU outscored TWU 13-2 to regain control at 57-45.  That was the last gasp for the Lady Rams as the Bison cruised to the 69-57 victory.
 
For the game, the Rams outshot the Bison 41.7%-39.4%, but OBU controlled the boards and the turnover game.  The Bison led 42-32 in rebounding, including 19-8 in offensive boards, and held a 20-12 turnover margin that led to a 19-9 advantage in points off of turnovers.  OBU used those extra possessions to take 18 more shot attempts than the Lady Rams in the contest.
 
Krissy Parker and Caitlin Boal led the Lady Rams with 12 and 11 points respectively.
 
Jalissa Council came off the OBU bench to score 19 points and grab seven rebounds.  Elisabeth Daniels added 17 points and seven assists, while Charity Flowler added 13 points for the Bison.
 
The Lady Rams will not have to wait for a second shot at the conference-leading Bison.  The two teams will meet again on Thursday, when TWU hosts OBU in the Sid Richardson Center.  That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
