FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (5-6, 1-2 SAC) took a 62-47 conference loss to John Brown University (11-1, 3-0 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.

Wesleyan started the game with a 6-1 rally capped by a ToiEasha Cooper layup. The Golden Eagles came right back with a 6-0 run capped by a Kortni Barenberg three pointer to make it 7-6 four minutes in. John Brown extended the lead to five points midway through the first half, and later made it a 27-12 game after a 12-0 run capped by another Barenburg three. The Golden Eagles took that momentum to post a 34-21 lead heading into the break.

The Lady Rams could make no dents in the John Brown lead, as the Golden Eagles kept a ten spot or better on Wesleyan the entire second half. JBU led by as many as 21 in the second half, extending the lead to 59-38 with 5:35 left in the contest. The Lady Rams outscored the Golden Eagles 9-3 to end the game, but ran out of time dropping the game 62-47.

John Brown shot 35 percent from the field, 25 percent from the three point line, and 78 percent from the free throw line. Texas Wesleyan shot 32 percent from the field, 15 percent from downtown, and 82 percent from the charity stripe.

Kashay Barnes led the Rams in points with 10. Cooper grabbed six points and 10 boards. Amy Moody notched eight points, six rebounds, a pair of assists and steal in the loss. Krissy Parker put up eight points, four boards, three blocks, and a pair of assists.

The Lady Rams will defend home court against rival Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Thursday, January 9 starting at 6:00 pm.Â
