Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Rams Play Golden Eagles to Scoreless Draw

SILOAM SPRINGS, AR:  On a foggy Saturday night in Siloam Springs, the Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (8-4-1, 4-2-1 SAC) played John Brown University (8-4-3, 4-2-2 SAC) to a scoreless draw in Sooner Athletic Conference action.

The thick fog made it difficult to connect passes, and both defenses took advantage.  Shots on goal for the contest were just 4-3 in favor of the Eagles.

John Brown did take eight corner kicks through regulation, while the Rams accumulated only three.  The Eagles were also the aggressor in overtime, where they outshot the Rams 5-0.

However, Nikki Lockwood (8-4-1) and the Texas Wesleyan back line ensured the Rams would at least tie.  The defense allowed only those four shots on target, and Lockwood was ready each time.

Kristen Morency made three saves for JBU to keep the game scoreless.

"Another great game," said head coach Josh Gibbs.  "Both teams played well enough to win.  I think a tie is a fair result from tonight.  I'm very proud of the players for the way they performed.  They showed great effort and passion tonight, we just couldn't find the back of the net for the winner."

The Lady Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Oklahoma City University in the final home game of the regular season.  That game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at Martin Field and will feature Senior Day festivities.
