BETHANY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (7-13, 4-2 SAC) took a 3-0 Sooner Athletic Conference road victory at Southwestern Christian University (7-12, 0-6 SAC) on Saturday. The Lady Rams prevailed with scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-21.
The opening game was tight throughout. The Eagles led 16-15 before
Lynsay Buell and
Abigail Zipoy combined on three straight kills to give the Rams the lead for good.
In game two, a 6-0 run opened a 23-13 advantage, and the Rams cruised to the easy 25-16 win. The momentum from that set carried over to game-three. Texas Wesleyan raced out to a commanding 13-4 advantage. The Eagles chipped away and eventually came all the way back to tie the score at 21-21 with a kill from Tory Sharp. However, the Lady Rams buckled down and closed the match out with a 25-21 win.
Alex Hendee threw down 11 kills in the match against no errors while hitting at a .550 clip. Zipoy notched eight kills against no errors while coming up with nine digs.
Shelby Stinnett contributed eight kills as well.
Kristina Gafford posted 31 assists and nine digs.
Sharp led the Eagles with nine kills, while Courtney Traylor finished with 27 assists.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Arlington, TX, to take on Arlington Baptist College. That match is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.

- The Lady Rams are 14-8 all-time in SAC play and 3-0 vs. Southwestern Christian.
- The match at Arlington Baptist will be the first ever meeting between the two schools on the volleyball court.
- The Lady Rams have won three matches in straight sets this season.
- Hendee has reached double-figures in kills seven times this season including each of the last three matches.
- Stinett currently leads the Rams with 189 kills and 32 aces, and ranks second on the team with 201 digs.
