FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (1-0) started off the season with a 76-64 win over NAIA Division II #23 Oklahoma Wesleyan University (1-1) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.

The Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the game, capped by a Kayla Morgan three-pointer. Oklahoma Wesleyan held a 12-7 lead before a 10-0 Lady Ram rally gave Wesleyan a 17-12 lead capped by
Stacey Darnley free throw shot with 12:50 left in the first half.

 Kori Dyer tied the game at 17 apiece with a triple, before another shot from downtown gave the Eagles a 21-18 lead with 10:29 to go.  The Eagles extended the lead to 31-23 with 2:48 remaining, and the Lady Rams could only close the gap to a six-point 36-30 deficit at halftime.
Texas Wesleyan made their adjustments and were a different team in the second half. The Rams took a 6-0 rally to tie the game 36-36 on an
Onyesonam Nolisa layup one and a half minutes in. The Eagles kept a slight edge until a
Carneisha Sims jumper gave Texas Wesleyan a 41-40 lead.

Texas Wesleyan held a slight lead until great team defense led to a 6-0 run capped by a
Krissy Parker jumper in the lane made it 51-43 midway through the second half. The Lady Rams hit hyper drive with an 8-0 run capped by a pair of Parker free throw shots to extend the lead to 59-45.

Texas Wesleyan held off the Oklahoma Wesleyan charge, maintaining a better than eight point lead the rest of the way. The Lady Rams led by as many as 14 points on the way to a 76-64 win.

Texas Wesleyan outscored the Eagles in points in the paint 26-14, second chance opportunities 17-1, and bench points 17-1. The Rams also led in points off turnovers 14-9. Oklahoma Wesleyan shot 39.7 percent from the field, while the Lady Rams shot 38.2 percent.

Nolisa led the Lady Rams with 24 points, nine boards, and five steals. She went 11 of 15 from the field. Darnley posted 14 points, six assist, and six rebounds in the win.

The Lady Rams will continue their home stand with a game against Wiley College on Wednesday, November 5. Tip-off is set for a 7:00pm start at the Sid Richardson Center.Â
