Box Score FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (3-1) gained valuable experience playing NCAA Division I Texas Christian University in an 86-40 loss at the University Recreation Center on Sunday.
 
The Lady Rams were a little overwhelmed to start, missing their first few shots while allowing TCU to work up a 17-0 lead over a span of over eight minutes. Stacey Darnley put it a jumper for the Lady Rams first bucket of the game. The Lady Frogs defensive played very stout, limiting easy opportunities for the Wesleyan offense.
 
The Lady Rams shot 12 percent for the half, and the Frogs took a 47-14 lead into the break. TCU sunk 5-11 from behind the line in the first half, and shot 44 percent from the field. Texas Wesleyan did grab 18 boards and forced eight steals in the first half as well.
 
Texas Wesleyan came out much more efficient in the second half, as Carneisha Sims started things off in the second half with a swoosh from downtown. The Lady Rams went on a short 4-0 burst after Kashyla Fields beat the defense on a layup and then got the line for a pair of good free throw shots is make a 62-24 game midway through the second half.
 
The Lady Rams continued to frustrate the Horned Frogs with a Cheyenne Swoopes pickpocket and transition layup on the other end. Stacey Darnley kept the run going, knocking down a triple. Darnley forced a steal and Onyesonam Nolisa was able to get to the charity stripe for two good free throws that capped an 11-3 run.
 
The Lady Rams played better in the second half, getting more comfortable with the competition, shooting 41 percent from the field. TCU also shot better in the second half at 52 percent. The Frogs would go on to take the exhibition win 86-40.
 
Nolisa led the Lady Rams with 10 points and nine rebounds. Fields posted eight points and three rebounds. Darnley added five points behind six steals. Sims notched five points and five boards in the game.
 
The Lady Rams will continue regular season play with a game against Jarvis Christian College on Tuesday, November 11. That game is slated for a 6:00 pm start at the Sid Richardson Center.
