Rams Tame Tigers, 4-0



FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (3-3-1) shutout Paul Quinn College (0-3) 4-0 at Martin Field on Saturday.
 
The Rams controlled the ball throughout the contest and did not allow the Tigers a shot in the first half.
 
Texas Wesleyan's efforts on offense finally paid off in the 33rd minute when Preston Baker found Luis Pumarejo in front of the goal.  In the 42nd minute, Dan Gonzalez knocked the ball out to Brien Avalos who scored from the top of the box.  Two minutes later, Sergio Ibarra assisted on a Gonzalez goal, and the Rams went to the intermission with a healthy 3-0 lead.
 
Paul Quinn took their only corner kick of the game in the 70th minute.  That led to the Tiger's only shot of the game, which was blocked in the far left wing.
 
In the 86th minute, Alejandro Rey scored off an assist from Edvaldo Pedro to round out the scoring at 4-0.
 
The goals marked the first collegiate goals for Avalos, Gonzalez, and Pumarejo.
 
For the game, the Rams outshot the Tigers 39-1 including 17-1 on goal.  Juan Solis made 13 saves in goal for the Tigers.
 
The Rams will return to action on Monday, when they host Texas College.  That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
