Box Score PLAINVIEW, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (3-9, 0-2 SAC) took a three set loss (25-17, 25-8, 25-23) to #13 Wayland Baptist University (8-7, 2-1 SAC) at the Hutcherson Center on Saturday.

The Lady Rams got out to 5-3 lead in the first set on a
Kristina Gafford kill, getting off to a solid start against the Pioneers. Oklahoma Baptist took a 4-0 run later in the set for a 12-7 lead, and kept extending the lead after a myriad of Lady Ram errors to give the Pioneers a 25-17 first set win. Â

Wayland Baptist got out to a 7-0 lead in the second set before
Alex Hendee put the Rams on the board with a kill. The Pioneers kept the pressure on as the second Texas Wesleyan point came on a
Meghan Finley kill in an 11-2 game. The Pioneers hit .450 the rest of the way for a 25-8 second set.

Shelby Stinnett kill and a Gafford service ace gave Wesleyan a 2-0 lead to start the third set. The two teams were deadlocked for most of the set as the score was tied 14 times. The Pioneers got out to a 17-15 lead before the Lady Rams came charging back, taking a 21-20 lead on a Hendee kill. Kills from Stinnet and
Kiersten Mebane kept the Rams with a slight one point lead at 23-22 with momentum, but two attacking errors let the 13 th ranked team off the hook with a 25-23 third set, 3-0 match win.

Finley and Stinnett led the Rams with eight kills apiece.
Lauren Hamaker tallied 14 assists, while Gafford had 11 assists.
Abigail Zipoy led the Rams with eight digs.

The Lady Rams will look to get back on track with a conference match with St. Gregory's University on Monday, September 22 at 7:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.Â
