Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 14 Drovers Shutout Rams

CHICKASHA, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (8-5-1, 2-3-1 SAC) suffered a 3-0 loss at 14th ranked University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (13-2, 6-0 SAC) on Tuesday.  With the win, the Drovers remain unbeaten atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
 
The Drovers moved up from 19th to 14th in the NAIA Coaches' Poll released earlier in the day, and they backed up the new rating.  USAO opened and closed the first half with goals.  Alex Breadman scored the game's first goal in the 5th minute, and Alex Hortal found the net in the 43rd minute.
 
Niall Burley added a strike in the 82nd minute to cap the scoring at 3-0.
 
Statistically the game was closer than the final score.  USAO led 13-10 in shots, 7-3 in corner kicks, 13-8 in fouls, and 4-3 in saves.  The Rams were called offside four times while the flag was raised only once on USAO.
 
Alexis Yanez (0-1) made three saves for the Rams while seeing his first action of the season.  Austen Parker made four stops for the Drovers as USAO collected its 5th shutout of the season.
 
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Oklahoma City, to take on Oklahoma City University.  That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
 
Ramblings
 
- The Rams are now 13-7-2 all-time in SAC play.  USAO leads the all-time series 7-2-1 while Oklahoma City leads Texas Wesleyan 11-4-1.
 
- The Rams have been shutout four times this season while they have held their opponents scoreless four times.
 
- For the year, the Rams have outscored their opponents 22-18.
