Lady Rams Suffer First SAC Loss

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (6-3-1, 1-1-1 SAC) suffered its first Sooner Athletic Conference loss of the season at Mid-America Christian University (5-4, 2-0 SAC) on Tuesday.

The Lady Rams came out flat, allowing the Evangels to rack up a 10-1 shot count in the first half.  That barrage of shots eventually led to a strike from Kaci Power in the 36th minute, and MACU led 1-0 at the break.

The Rams straightened things out in the second half, outshooting the Evangels 12-8.  However, MACU's Kaitlyn Whitten came up with 10 saves in the period to keep the Rams off the board.

For the game, the Evangels outshot the Rams 18-13.  Texas Wesleyan led 11-7 in shots on goal, but Whitten made 11 saves while Nikki Lockwood (6-3-1) made six saves for the Rams.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they host Southwestern Assemblies of God University at Martin Field.  That Sooner Athletic Conference game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.
