SAN ANGELO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (3-4) suffered a 78-53 loss to NCAA DII Angelo State University (4-1) at the Stevens Arena on Wednesday.

It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Rams on the night. Wesleyan shot 47 percent from the field in the first half, but only mustered 23 percent in the second half. The Angelo Rams marched 14 players on the court, keeping a fresh five on the court throughout the entire contest.

Falesha Fuller opened the night with a jumper in the paint and continued to do work with another two-pointer to make it an 8-3 Lady Ram lead. Angelo State posted an 11-0 rally to take a 16-8 advantage with 2:48 left in the first quarter. The Angelo Rams kept a double digit lead and ended the first with a 22-11 lead.

Onyesonam Nolisa knocked down a shot to start a massive 14-1 run over the last five and a half minutes capped by a Fuller two-pointer to chop down a 13-point deficit, tying the game at 33-33 heading into the half.

The Angelo Rams came out shooting in the second half, popping off back-to-back three-pointers by Brea Mitchell to start. Angelo State built and kept a comfortable from there and rode a double-digit lead well into the third quarter. The home fans saw the lead grow from there, taking the 78-54 win.

The Lady Rams shot 35.7 percent from the field for the game, while Angelo State shot 35.3 percent. Â ASU out rebounded the Rams 49-34. ASU actually shot better from behind the arc in the game at 39.3 percent.

Fuller led all players with 19 points. Nolisa posted 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
Katelynn Threats had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Rams will take on Mid-America Christian in the Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, December 5 starting at 3:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.Â
