FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (18-11, 9-8 SAC) suffered a tough 58-56 loss to Mid-America Christian University (16-10, 9-8 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Thursday.

The Lady Rams jumped out to a 9-0 lead to start the game, capped by an
Amy Easley three-pointer. The Evangels missed their first six from behind the arc, but cut the lead to 9-8 on a Felicia Foster triple. Texas Wesleyan kept a slight edge over MACU and pushed the lead to 20-16 on a
Katelynn Threats jumper. Another Easley shot from downtown made it a 23-16 game. The Rams did their job the rest of the half and took a 29-25 advantage.

The Lady Rams shot only 30 percent from the field in the first half, but Mid-America shot only 25 percent The Evangels did a decent job of limiting chances in the paint, although the Rams outscored their opponent 12-4 in the category.

MACU went on a 5-0 burst to take a 30-29 lead at the start of the second half.
Caitlin Boal hit two consecutive jumpers to regain a 33-30 edge. Foster and the Evangels came back with a triple to tie the game. Texas Wesleyan got back the lead on a
Katelynn Threats elbow jumper, and extended the lead to 50-43 on an Easley splash from behind the arc.

The Lady Rams held off Mid-America Christian until the Evangels rattled off a 7-0 to take a 55-54 advantage. Threats hit a layup to take a 56-55 lead with 1:45 remaining in the contest. MACU got a three-pointer to go with 1:22 left in the game to make it a 58-56 lead. The Lady Rams made a stop with six seconds left and drove down the court, but could not convert on the other end, falling 58-56.

The two teams had nearly identical stat lines, both shooting 31 percent from the field. The Lady Rams held an edge on assists 15-14 and out-rebounded the Evangels 53-40. The Evangels led for only 2:26 all of which was in the second half, and stole the game away from the Rams.

Threats led the Lady Rams with 15 points and 20 rebounds. Easley notched 18 points in the game. Boal tallied six points and five boards.
