Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles Fly By Rams

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (0-2) suffered a 2-0 loss at Oklahoma Christian University (2-3-1) on Friday.

The game was very tight statistically.  The Eagles outshot the Rams 17-11, but led just 5-4 in shots on goal.  Corner kicks were even at 2-2.  The one lopsided stat line favored Texas Wesleyan with 16 fouls against OC and only 5 against the Rams.  The Eagles were also offside three times while the Rams jumped only once.

Nikki Lockwood made a pair of saves to keep the game scoreless in the first half.  The Eagles found the net in the 56th minute when Darrian Palacios assisted Areli Bermudez.

The Rams were just a strike away until the 84th minute when Shaye Hatchette scored off of an assist from Sydri Wiles.

Jocelyn Cain (0-1) took the loss after surrendering both goals.  Cain did notch a save in the second half.  Carina Schanz (2-3-1) earned the win after making four saves for the Eagles.

"Just a bad day all the way around," said head coach Josh Gibbs.  "We were not fully dialed in mentally.  I take responsibility for the sluggish start and lack of focus.  I have to do a better job of getting the girls prepared.  We will all do a better job as we get ready for the conference opener on Tuesday."

This was the final non-conference tune-up before the Rams jump into Sooner Athletic Conference play.  Texas Wesleyan will host Southwestern Christian University on Tuesday.  That game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
