Rams Drop 2-0 Decision at John Brown

SILOAM SPRINGS, AR:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (6-9-2, 3-3-2 SAC) suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of 18th ranked John Brown University (11-2-2, 6-1-1 SAC) on Thursday.
 
With the win, John Brown kept pace with Wayland Baptist atop the Sooner Athletic Conference at 6-1-1.  WBU holds the tiebreaker over the Golden Eagles with one game to play.
 
Meanwhile the Rams are currently sixth in the standings and could still reach as high as fourth with a win in their regular season finale and some outside help.
 
Thursday's game swung midway through the first half when John Brown struck for two goals in a 1:52 span.  Collin Smith scored the first in the 27th minute with an assist from Kelvin Omondi.  In the 29th minute it was Omondi scoring off a dual assist from Steve Teshima and Joao Silva to push the score to 2-0.
 
For the game, the Eagles outshot the Rams 25-7.  Corner kicks favored JBU 7-5 as did an 8-7 foul count.
 
Marko Jovanovic (6-8-2) made eight saves in the loss, while JBU's Adam Holt (11-2-2) needed four saves to preserve the shutout.
 
The Rams will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College.  That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.  The Rams will play an SAC quarterfinal contest on Saturday, November 5.
 
Ramblings
 
- John Brown now leads the Rams 6-1-1 all-time.  The Rams are 17-15-4 all-time in SAC play.  Texas Wesleyan leads the all-time series with Bacone 10-1-1.
