WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (8-18, 3-13 SAC) narrowly lost a 68-61 double overtime loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God University (16-11, 9-7 SAC) at the Schaefer Center on Saturday.

The Lady Rams found a 13-7 lead to start the game, due in part by a
Katelynn Threats jumper to make it a 13-7 lead. Wesleyan ended the opening quarter with a 5-0 rally highlighted by a
Falesha Fuller jump shot basket in the paint for a 24-17 advantage.

Texas Wesleyan kept a hefty lead on their counterpart for the entire second half, as the Rams hit a couple outside shots while also forcing the issue in the paint.
Courtney Chargois hit a two-pointer before
Chervelle Cox hit a free throw before the end of the half for a 35-26 lead.

The Rams kept the Lady Lions at bay through the third quarter, including an
Alycia Louallen mid-range jumper to lead by 16 with a 47-31 advantage. Wesleyan kept that trend to the end of the quarter for a 51-36 lead.

The Lady Lions started the furious rally with a 17-0 run to tilt the tide and take a 53-51 lead on a Charity Page layup. Chargois hit a jumper to tie the game at 53 apiece with 1:36 remaining in regulation. The two teams failed to score in the time remaining to go into overtime.

Leila Jdily-Ezzad gave Wesleyan a 56-55 edge with a jumper with two minutes left. The Lady Lions responded by taking a 60-58 lead with 29 seconds left. The Lady Rams drove down the court and Threats nailed a lay-in to tie the game at 60-60 to send the game into double OT.

The Rams took a 61-60 to start the second OT, but went cold again from the floor. That was the only point Wesleyan could get as the Lions took a 68-61 win.

The Lady Rams outshot their opponent from the floor 37 percent to 32 percent, but SAGU out rebounded Wesleyan 54-51

Threats notched a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards. Fuller hit 15 points in the game. Cox posted seven points and 15 rebounds, Chargois added 10 points.

The Lady Rams will come home to celebrate senior night on Thursday, February 25 starting at 6:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.Â
