Box Score FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (3-6) suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of the University of the Southwest (5-0-1) at Martin Field on Saturday.
The Mustangs jumped ahead with a pair of goals from Michael Boone Jr. in the first half. Boone found the net with an assist from Ibis Armendariz in the 6th minute, and again in the 41st with an assist from Jack Laurie.
The Rams continued to pressure in the second half and nearly pulled off the comeback.

Micah Day in the box and Day finished his seventh goal of the season. The Rams developed several quality opportunities particularly in the closing minutes but could not come up with the equalizer.
For the game, Texas Wesleyan outshot USW 19-14 although the Mustangs held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams also took seven corner kicks to USW's 3.
Marko Jovanovic (3-5) made five saves in the loss while his counterpart, Humberto Estrada, did the same in the win.
The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they open Sooner Athletic Conference play and host St. Gregory's University. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
Ramblings
- This was the final non-conference tilt of the season for the Rams. Their remaining nine contests will all be played within the Sooner Athletic Conference.
- The Rams are now 8-4 all-time against USW. St. Gregory's leads the all-time series 5-4.
