Rams Set For Homecoming Game on Saturday

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University Football team will host Bacone College on Homecoming at Farrington Field on Saturday.  The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff, but festivities in the Ram Zone will begin at 12 p.m.

Homecoming 2017!

Texas Wesleyan has plenty of fun planned for students and alumni during homecoming week. TXWES student organizations have already "Decked Out Campus" on the campus mall with banners and letters, and the annual Ram Rally, a pep rally introducing the men's (reigning NAIA DI National Champions) and women's basketball teams was a success.

Don't worry! There are still great things to be a part of. Today (Oct. 11), is Wesleyan Wednesday, so if you aren't wearing your Blue and Gold, go buy some new threads at the bookstore and join in on the school spirit. Also today is the Powderpuff game, an all-female flag football game set to play at 6 p.m. on the campus mall.

Tomorrow, Thursday Oct. 12, is the freshman class photo. All first-year students are welcome to stand together on the campus mall during free period for an aerial class photo. Free beanies will be given to the first 100 freshman students.

Friday, Oct. 13, is the Taste of Wesleyan block party. Grab some grub and get your dance on at 6 p.m. on the campus mall, sponsored by the Student Government Association.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, bring your friends and family to Farrington Field at noon to tailgate, chill in the Ram Zone and cheer on your Rams while enjoying the spectacular moves of the TXWES Gold Line Dancers, The Ram Band, and homecoming court festivities, all while taking in a gorgeous view of the downtown Fort Worth skyline from your seat in the home side stands.

Visit the Ram Zone

Be sure to arrive early and check out the Ram Zone pregame experience – presented by 92.1 Hank FM – from 12-2 p.m. in the east parking lot at Farrington Field.  The Ram Zone features music, prizes, games, giveaways, and appearances by the Ram Band, Willie the Rams mascot, and the TXWES Cheer & Gold Line Dance teams.

The Islanders food truck – owned by a TXWES Alumna – as well as Nothing Bundt CakesChik-fil-A and many others will be on hand.

The Parking lot opens at 10:30 a.m. and stadium gates open at 1 p.m.  As always, parking is Free!  Please remember that open flames and alcohol are prohibited at Farrington Field per FWISD rules.  Fans may bring in water; however, coolers, backpacks and large bags are not allowed inside the stadium.

Ram Football

The Rams fell short in a 21-11 loss to Texas College this past Saturday, but the Rams outscored the Steers 8-0 in the second half and had a two-point conversion try that would have made it a one-score game late in the fourth quarter.

The TXWES defense shut down the Steers after halftime, earning a safety as well as sacks by Matthew Shelby and Ja'Rod Bedford.  Kane Hardin got into the end zone on a 6-yard quarterback run.

With 1:34 remaining in the game, the TXWES offense put together a 13-play, 69 yard drive, including two fourth down conversions before running out of clock at the Texas College 1-yard line.

The Bacone Warriors

Bacone is 1-5 overall and 1-3 in CSFL play this season. The Warriors have had two weeks to prepare for the Rams after losing five straight before taking a 31-26 win at home over Texas College on September 30. The Warriors average 286 yards of offense per game, while all 10 of their touchdowns this season have come via the pass. Texas Wesleyan averages 208 yards per game and has six touchdowns on the season (1-Rush, 5-Pass).
