Lady Rams Close Regular Season with 3-1 Win at MACU

The Rams will host either MACU or St. Gregory's on Friday at Martin Field in an SAC Quarterfinal Contest.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team (13-3, 8-2 SAC) closed out the regular season with a 3-1 win at Mid-America Christian University (9-6, 4-5 SAC) on Tuesday.

The Rams will be the third seed in the upcoming SAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal contest at Martin Field Friday evening.  MACU entered the day with a chance at moving up to fifth with a victory.  With a win or tie in their season finale against Central Christian, they could still claim the sixth seed and set up a rematch with the Rams.

Senior captain Samantha Moore got the Rams started on the right foot when she netted her 16th goal of the season 12:38 into the contest.

McKenzie Dyer assisted Tamier Grosvenor's 21st goal four minutes later, and the Rams led 2-0 at the intermission.

Sophomore Megan Register knocked in her first goal as a Ram in the 66th minute to cap Texas Wesleyan's offensive effort.  The Evangels turned an Alissa Tapp corner kick into a goal by Casey Riley to spoil the shutout in the 83rd minute.

Lauren Bond (7-2) worked all 90 minutes and made four saves to preserve the win.  MACU's Jennifer Starwalt made 12 saves against Texas Wesleyan's 25 shots.

Although the Rams were whistled for just five fouls in the first half, they were tagged with three yellow cards in the period and four yellow cards in the game.

Friday's SAC Quarterfinals is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Martin Field.  The Rams will host either MACU or St. Gregory's University.
