FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (17-7) backed up their decisive win against No. 13 LSU-Shreveport (18-7) on Tuesday with an 8-0 victory on Wednesday.
After delivering a 16-3 victory over the Pilots on Tuesday, the Rams picked up right where they left off.
Julio Ibarra singled in the second and scored the game's first run on a groundout from
Alex Gudac.
Singles from
Luis Roman,
Caden Williams, and
Aidan Laurini along with a two-out double steal pushed two more runs across in the fourth.
The Rams continued to tack-on in the next three innings. Ibarra added a sac fly in the fifth. The sixth featured an RBI single from Kiki Menedez and an RBI double from
Casey Moses. Singles from Ibarra and Laurini in the seventh led to two more runs to extend the advantage to 8-0.
Meanwhile, three Texas Wesleyan hurlers limited LSUS to just five hits on the day.
Andrew O'Brien (5-0) allowed four hits and struck out four in seven scoreless innings.
Chris Terry provided 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, and
Alex Davis nailed down the final two outs of the game.
Pat Day (0-2) took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in four innings pitched.
Aidan Laurini led the 12-hit attack at the plate by going 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Roman and Ibarra each had a pair of hits as well.
The Rams return to Sooner Athletic Conference action this weekend when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College. Friday's doubleheader is set for a 2:00 p.m. start, while Saturday's finale will begin at 12:00 p.m.

He had reached base safely in 13 consecutive plate appearances and was 9-for-9 with three walks over three games. That stretch raised his season average from .400 (16-40) to an SAC-leading .500 (25-50).
