Lady Rams Split On Senior Day

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University (28-19, 16-12 SAC) spilt the regular season finale with Bacone College (13-39, 8-18 SAC) on senior day. The Lady Rams posted a 5-2 game one win before the Warriors took an 18-7 game two win.

Texas Wesleyan honored six seniors for their fierce commitment and dedication to the softball program. Lauren Gunter, Brittany Rosenberry, Dani Jackson, Shelby Reddington, and Samantha Vasquez are responsible for 98 wins and 57 conference wins.

In game one, the Lady Rams posted a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Kayla Prachyl base hit to center.

In the third, Gunter smashed a double to left center before Vasquez drove the second run in on a sacrifice fly to right.

TXWES added two more in the fourth on a Jackson infield slap before Bailey Terry hit a sacrifice liner to center field to make it a 4-0 lead.

The Warriors stole a runs in the fifth and seventh, while the Rams posted an insurance run on Jackson's second RBI in the sixth before cruising to a 5-2 win.

Rosenberry (8-7) notched the complete game win. She gave up two runs on just four hits, had no walks, and struck out six. The senior ends the regular season with a 2.42 ERA. She has a 2.54 career ERA and 21 wins.

Jackson went 2 for 3 with two RBI. Prachyl was 3 for 4 with one RBI. Reddington went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

In game two, the Lady Rams started with a bang. Texas Wesleyan took two runs in the first, starting with a Terry beating the infield for a RBI. Reddington drove in the second run on a base hit up the middle.

TXWES added three more runs in the second after Demi Dotson and Prachyl base hits led to a Terry three-run bomb to left-center for a 5-0 advantage.

The game quickly got away from the Rams though as the Warrior caught lightening in a bottle with a five run third and an 11-run, 10 hit, fifth. Bacone could do no wrong, as nearly everything they hit found a hole somewhere. The defense also had to contend with wind gusts of over 30 mph.

Texas Wesleyan added a run in the bottom of the fifth in another Prachyl infield hit, but the Warriors ended up with the 18-7 win in five innings.

Terry went 2 for 2 with four RBI and a home run. Dotson was 2 for 2 with one RBI and a stolen base. Prachyl went 2 for 4 with one RBI and a stolen base.

The Lady Rams sit in the fourth position in the SAC standings and wait official seeding for the conference tournament.
