SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (6-0) took a pair of wins on Friday at the Hotel Indigo at the Alamo Classic hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University. The Rams posted 3-0 victories over Benedictine University at Mesa (0-1) and Baker University (1-1).
Saturday's action at the tournament has been canceled as Hurricane Harvey makes its way inland from the Texas coast. The Lady Rams returned home to Fort Worth following their match against Baker to avoid the severe weather.
Official stats of both matches were not immediately available; however, the Rams topped Benedictine with scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-22. They then ran their season-opening winning streak to six matches by defeating Baker (KS) 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16.
Against Baker,
Brianna Jaramillo led the offensive attack with 13 kills against just one error.
Dana Lohrke and
Sasha Robinson both finished with nine kills. Robinson just missed a triple-double as she added 12 assists and 13 digs to her stat line.
The Lady Rams are slated to return to action on Wednesday at the University of St. Thomas-Houston. That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
