Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Rams Blast Bulldogs, 13-0

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (2-1) took a decisive 13-0 win over Jarvis Christian College (0-1) in their home opener at Martin Field on Friday.

The Rams dominated the ball throughout the contest, never allowing the Bulldogs to get a shot off.

Samantha Moore started the scoring off with an assist from Tameir Grosvenor in the 15th minute.  After a goal from Cat Smith, Grosvenor ripped off three consecutive goals in the 22nd, 25th, and 29th minutes.  Goals from Taylor Ross, Cheyanne Morre, Hana Diaz, and Senica Cruz pushed the score to 9-0 at the half.

Grosvenor, a freshman from DeSoto, TX, continues to impress.  She needed just 31 minutes on the field to post her first collegiate hat-trick.  In her first three games, she has yet to fail to score and currently leads the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists.

Head Coach Josh Gibbs took full advantage of the lopsided score, allowing 19 players to play at least 30 minutes.

Taylor Ross started the scoring in the second half with an assist from McKenzie Dyer in the 56th minute.  After a goal from Dyer in the 63rd minute, Ross completed her own hat trick in the 72nd minute.  Katelynn Teufel capped the scoring in the 87th minute.

For Ross, a sophomore from Temecula, CA, who led the Lady Rams in points (32) last season, the hat trick was the third of her career.

Three players, Katelynn Teufel, Reilly Stone and Senica Cruz, recorded their first collegiate goals in the contest, while Lauren Bond (1-1) was credited with her first collegiate shutout.

The game marked the program's largest margin of victory since scoring a 13-0 win over Wiley College in 2012.  The program record for margin of victory came in a 20-0 win over Southwestern Adventist during the 2009 season.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they host the University of Houston-Victoria.  That contest is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
